Question: You said that a Saddle Stitched book has 32 pages and a Perfect Bound book has 60 pages. Are these the maximum number of pages for the two book styles. What would be the maximum number of pages that I could get published in each book style?

Answer: The book sizes of 32 and 60 are just sample prices in order to give you a price range. Saddle stitched books could go up to 175 pages but this makes for a pretty plump book. Saddle stitched books are usually reserved for small books of 6-60 pages. Perfect bound books can be as many pages as you like. The average largest book would be about 200 pages but one could go bigger if one wanted.

Question; What kind of price increase am I looking at if I want heavier paper on the inside of the book?

Answer: The sky is the limit but generally speaking a 24/60 lb paper would be about half a cent per page more. The weight of this heavier paper makes for a more attractive book because the ink from the other side of the page does not show through as much. Buff colored paper and textured paper are available at a higher price. The main reason that 20 lb paper is used is to make the book as light as possible for mailing purposes as well it is to keep the price as low as possible.

Question: How much does color photo copying cost for inside or on the cover?

Answer: Color copying costs about $1.50 to $2.00 depending on the quantity of pages inside the book. To print a cover in color on 65 lb cover stock would cost about $1.00 more per cover.
